9 Day Kimberley Discovery Cruise

DEPARTS & RETURNS BROOME | MAY-SEP 2025, 2026 & 2027
Experience the best of the Kimberley Coast on our most popular cruise.
Discover iconic waterfalls, ancient landscapes, and see it all with our included helicopter and scenic flights.

We show you the Kimberley the way it should be seen – up close and hands-on. We’re a WA family-owned and operated cruise line, and the Kimberley isn’t just a destination, it’s our backyard. Our 9-day adventure takes just 12 guests on an unforgettable journey through remote creeks, secret freshwater swimming holes, and ancient landscapes, all from the comfort of our luxurious power catamarans and expedition tenders. We take you through Horizontal Falls, past the tidal spectacle of Montgomery Reef, and beneath the spray of King Cascade. Swimming, fishing, mud crabbing, and oystering are all part of the experience. You’ll also take to the skies with an included 45-minute scenic helicopter flight and 2-hour coastal scenic plane transfer that reveals the wild Kimberley from above. It’s refreshingly different from the big ships, with incredible food, a close-knit group, and our expert local crew – this is the Kimberley as only the locals can show you.

Day 1: Depart Broome

Guests will be picked up by private bus from their Broome hotel location or Airport at 3-3.15pm, setting sail out of Cable Beach at approximately 4.30pm. Once on board, you will have the opportunity to meet the other guests and crew, be shown your accommodation and taken through our safety procedures. Whilst the skipper steams out of Broome, relax with a drink and nibbles overlooking a view of the famous cable beach, the gateway to the Kimberley.

*Please note the itinerary shown is the Broome to Hunter River direction. For guests departing Hunter River cruising to Broome the itinerary is reversed. On day one, guests will be picked up by private bus from your Broome accommodation at 5.30am and transferred to the airstrip to board the plane. After a 2 hour plane flight over the coastline, helicopters will meet you at the Mitchell Plateau and fly through the Mitchell Falls to meet the awaiting vessel at Naturalists Island (Hunter River).

Day 2: Horizontal Waterfalls

Wake up to the delights of Yampi Sound. Start your day with breakfast, then depending on tide, board one of our custom built tenders to collect black lip oysters, or fish the headlands or creeks. Lunch will be served while the vessel moves through the Koolan channel. We will continue via Dugong Bay into Talbot Bay where you can experience the thrill of the amazing Horizontal Falls. After enjoying a sumptuous evening meal enjoy a restful night under the Kimberley night sky.

Day 3: Doubtful Bay

Awaken to the aroma of fresh coffee and breakfast being prepared. Once you are energized, sit back and enjoy the beautiful steam through Raft point into Doubtful bay. Doubtful bay is the gateway to many waterways each with their own unique landscape and swimming holes.  Spend the day pursuing your choice of activities fishing, mud crabbing or exploring the many fresh water swimming holes the Kimberley keeps secret.

MV Diversity then departs Deception bay steaming north to the mighty Prince Regent River.

Day 6: King Cascades Waterfall

Wake up in the St George Basin and take the tenders up Spit Fire Creek for the opportunity to catch the prized Barramundi. Once the tide has risen we steam up to Kings Cascade where the skipper manoeuvres the boat under the powerful King Cascades waterfall. Guests will have the opportunity to swim and hike the surrounding areas. MV Diversity steams back to Camp Creek for the night.

Day 7: Camp Creek

Once guests have enjoyed breakfast, they will have the opportunity to fish the river for Fingermark and Mangrove Jack. Guests can leisurely explore the Aboriginal Art work of the area. On the high tide the crew takes the tenders up to Camp Creek to enjoy a freshwater swim and the waterfall. MV Diversity will catch the outgoing tide and anchor at Careening Bay.

Day 8: Mermaid Boab Tree

Guests will go to shore to view the Mermaid Boab Tree and learn about the rich history of the area. MV Diversity will then steam to the Hunter River to Perosis Creek, for the option to fish or explore the surrounding areas.
